Hello Fisher Families,
As we wrap up the final days of November, I hope all of you had a lovely Thanksgiving Holiday spent with family and friends. I appreciated having the time to rest and relax while reflecting on all for which I am grateful.
December is right around the corner as are all of the wonderful Fisher festivities!! Be sure to check the calendar for the Los Gatos Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony (12.1.23) where our own choir will be performing. Then, we have the Los Gatos Holiday Parade, (12.2.23) where our marching band will participate. Shortly thereafter, join us for our Winter Concerts on December 14th and 15th. Our wonderful music program helps us all get into the holiday spirit!
I would like to strongly encourage our students to attend school, all the way through to Friday, December 22nd! Our historical data shows that many families choose to take vacation BEFORE our scheduled two-week vacation. Because the end of our semester is Friday, December 22nd, attendance during that week is vital to a student’s success. There are many final projects, assessments and activities that can impact a student’s semester grade. Please consider this when making your holiday plans.
The temperatures are going to drop! Stay warm and stay well.
Take care.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
Vacation Days in the Holiday Season
Last year in the month of December, Fisher had 132 students who missed school for vacation (not illness). With your help, we are hoping to significantly lower that number this year. The last school week of December is the end of the grading period and has important work, assessments, and the completion of large projects. Statistics show that missing just two school days in a month can lead to lower academic scores and increased levels of stress and anxiety. Please plan December vacations around our school attendance calendar.
Attend Everyday Ready and Ontime, AERO in the right direction!
ENVISION LGUSD SURVEY
How do you feel about the drop off/pick up traffic flow at Fisher? What are your thoughts on our music facilities? Are there specific facility needs that you would like to see at Fisher? Your opinion matters and we would like to hear it! Please take a few minutes to complete this important survey: Envision LGUSD Survey

EARLY OUT WEDNESDAYS
Fisher will be aligning with the elementary schools this year and following an Early Out Wednesday (EOW) schedule. Students will be dismissed at 1:30pm on EOWs. Our bell schedules can be found here: Fisher Welcome Packet.
Fisher continues our rewarding partnership with LGRec, and we are grateful that they will be offering many enrichment opportunities for our students on EOWs. The full schedule can be found here:
LG Rec Wednesday Enrichment Classes
LG Rec is still looking for anyone who might want to teach/run these classes. Please reach out to LGRec directly if you are interested.
In addition to these enrichment opportunities, Fisher will offer a supervised homework space from 1:30-2:50pm each Wednesday in our Multi-Purpose Room. Students must arrive by 1:35 to sign in. Once signed in, there are no “in-n-out” privileges however, students are not required to stay until 2:50pm.

DO YOU KNOW?
Do you know how many opportunities your child has at Fisher Middle School? One Community LG focuses on providing students with many options so that students can make their own choices concerning their education. One Community LG funds many of these electives thanks to contributions from parents like you.
Students can choose elective classes such as dance, STEAM, band, choir, or orchestra. During lunch, students can choose to participate in intramural sports, organized by our Noon Sports Coordinator, or relax in the Wellness Center with our many counselors. Student clubs at Fisher are also funded through One Community LG, as well as many after school community building activities, such as the recent Camp Trojan.
All 6th grade students participate in OCLG funded electives since they are either in the Music Program or the Wheel, which includes dance and STEAM. Many 7th grade students continue with the Wheel, which includes STEAM, or are in the Music Program, and some 8th grade students participate in both Spanish and music as their electives. Regardless of which elective your student participates in, it is important that all students be given the opportunity to make a choice at any point in their Fisher career.
Ask your child to tell you what they did in their elective or at lunch this week. To find out more about what your contributions to One Community LG will fund, please visit www.onecommunitylg.org.
