WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW AT FISHER
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Fisher Families,
We are full steam ahead here at Fisher! We have finished 19 days and are settling into our rhythms and routines.
We are looking forward to our Club Fair, this Friday, 9.13.24, at lunch. We have over 22 clubs available to your child and we hope they find something that will interest them! We will update our 24-25 Club list on our website once we have completed the Club Fair.
It is time to check PowerSchool! PowerSchool is our primary method to communicate your child’s academic progress with you. Periodically, I will remind you to actively check your child’s academic progress. Should you have any difficulty accessing PowerSchool, please contact our Registrar, Kelley Burns ([email protected]). Should you have questions about your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teacher directly.
We just had our joint SAC + HSC meeting. It is so exciting to see all the wonderful parent volunteers who are interested in supporting Fisher on these essential committees. Thank you!
Thank you all for your continued support of Fisher!
Take care.

Invest in Our Children Today!
In the 2023-2024 school year, our LGUSD families contributed more than $2,400,000 to One Community LG and our children! Way to go LGUSD!
For 2024-2025, you can contribute to One Community LG using any of these easy options:
One popular option is payroll deduction, which many corporations offer through their non-profit donation platforms. Please complete our corporate donation form, as most companies take up to 60 days to process contributions. (Please note: One Community LG is facilitated by the Los Gatos Education Foundation (LGEF). LGEF's tax ID is #94-2874929.)
Another option is recurring payments. Splitting your contribution into installments is simple! You can choose weekly or monthly installments, and our system will automatically calculate your payments. You can also select the start date for your payments.
Just $43.16 a week provides our children with the opportunities to explore music, STEAM, dance, Noon Time Sports, as well as provide student supplies, community building events, counselors, programs, and more! ($43.16 is equivalent to the cost of a grande latte a day.)

Do you know about your student's opportunities at Fisher?
Do you know about the numerous opportunities available to your child at Fisher Middle School? One Community LG focuses on providing students with a wide range of options, allowing them to make their own choices regarding their education. Many of these elective classes are funded by contributions to One Community LG from parents like you.
Students have the option to choose from elective classes such as dance, STEAM, band, choir, orchestra, or musical theater. During lunch, students can participate in intramural sports organized by our Noon Sports Coordinator, or relax in the Wellness Center with our counselors. Additionally, student clubs at Fisher are funded through One Community LG, along with many after-school community building activities.
All 6th-grade students take part in OCLG-funded electives, as they are either in the Music Program or the Wheel, which includes dance. Many 7th-grade students continue with the Wheel, which includes STEAM, or choose dance, STEAM, or music, and 8th-grade students can participate in both Spanish and music as their electives, or choose STEAM or dance. Regardless of the elective your student chooses, it is important that all students are given the opportunity to make a choice at any point during their time at Fisher.
I encourage you to ask your child about their elective or lunchtime activities this week. To learn more about the impact of your contributions to One Community LG, please visit our website.

Safe Routes to School Coordinator
Los Gatos Monte Sereno Safe Routes to School is going to be adding a part-time seasonal staff member for the 24-25 School year. The job description is attached for the role of coordinator to assist with implementation and instruction of educational programs, plus assistance with our outreach and encouragement work. This role is ideal for anyone interested in working with young people, and also interested in engaging in some public policy work related to transportation, the environment, public health or communications. Work hours will vary but will be mostly during school hours, with the busiest times being Aug - October and March - May. Some occasional weekend work may be required. Ability to ride a bike is important, but you don't have to be a skilled cyclist (although that would not hurt). If you know a college student looking for a killer part-time job or maybe a friend interested in getting back into the workforce please pass on this job description.
